TRANSPORTATION MEANS IN CAMBODIA

BUS - Cars, Vans and mini-buses are easily available for touring the temples at Angkor, or for day trips in and around Phnom Penh. The average cost of a car plus driver is approximately US$30 per day while a van or minibus may cost a little more.

MOTO TAXI - Motor-bike taxis are a good choice for quick public transportation. You can find them outside popular tourist haunts. Near the market or simply flag down drivers (usually wearing baseball caps). For short trips in town you should pay about 2000 riel but expect to pay extra it you want to hire your town.  If you want to hire your own motor scooter expect to pay from 10 to 15 dollars a day but be aware driving in the capital is difficult (you will need to leave your passport as deposit). It is no longer possible for non-residents to rent motor bikes in Siem Reap.

BICYCLE Bicycles can be hired from some hotels. Pubs, restaurants or guest houses for about one to two dollars per day. if you plan to stay a little longer you can buy second hand bicycles around Ohreusey Market, for about 50 to 60 dollars and resell them for about 25 to 30 dollars.

CYCLO - Cyclos are a comfortable, fun and easy way to get around the town and offer a relaxing shady conveyance or a dry ride in the wet weather. If you have time, use a cycle as the drivers are among the poorest and can use your business. Expect to pay about the some for a cycle as a motor but it never hurts to be generous!

TUK TUK - TUK TUK is famous in Thailand and the name has been co-opted for the canopied trailed pulled by motorbikes in Cambodia. These vehicles provide a very comfortable and relaxing ride under the shade of the canopy. You can find them anywhere especially around hotels, pubs and restaurants. Tuk tusk can accommodate up to five passengers. Trips in town cost from two to five dollars.

REMORQUE - The remorque are long wooden trailers pulled by a powerful motorbike. This is a very6 popular form of transportation in rural areas. The remorque is often used for delivery or transporting large groups of people. Municipal law forbids remorque from entering the city so it is unlikely that you will see one unless you visit the countryside or outer limits of the capital.

HORSE CART - Horse carts are the traditional transportation of rural Cambodia. These wooden carts are still widely used most often used to transport goods. Are elaborately decorated with head dresses and fancy tack. It is very rare to see horse-drawn carts in Phnom Penh, however, if you are interested in riding on one they are available at Oudong and Baset Mountains and cost about 10-15 dollars a day to hire.

RAILWAYS  Cambodia have two rail lines, both originating in Phnom Penh, totaling about 612 kilometers of single, one-meter-gauge track. The French built the first line, which runs from Phnom Penh to Poipet on the Thai border, between 1930 and 1940 (Phnom Penh Station opened in 1932) the final connection with Thailand has been done by Royal State Railways in 1942.
However, the service from Bangkok to Battambang was suspended on December 17, 1946 -> the day French Indochinese Government resumed sovereignty over Battambang and the Si Sophon area. (Thailand was seen as a supporter of Khmer Issarak, the anti-French, Khmer nationalist political movement.)
Railway links with adjacent countries:
Thailand - yes - suspended - same gauge 1000mm
Laos - no - same gauge 1000mm
Vietnam - no - same gauge 1000mm
